You don’t need to buy a ton of things to travel safely, comfortably, and efficiently. But, take it from someone who has traveled for the majority of her life, there are some things you need for your trip to be stress free.
(P.S. this list is updated frequently with better/new recommendations)
- Revolut
- Revolut is the best card to have while traveling. It’s great if you want to avoid unnecessary foreign and atm fees, and if you don’t have any cards with travel benefits.
- eSIM
- For international travel, I recommend getting an eSIM (click here for a $3 discount), rather than paying a ton of money for international roaming.
- Travel Adapter
- I also recommend investing in a universal travel adapter.
- Backpack
- A good (and sustainable) backpack is also a necessity.
- If you are based in the EU, Ucon Acrobatics is a great choice.
- If you are outside of the EU, go with Day Owl.
- Tracker
- I always use an Apple AirTag to track my luggage when I check it in, or on a set of rental keys if I am staying in someone else’s flat. As simple as it is, knowing where your things are can reduce your travel stress markedly.
- Tile is a good alternative if you don’t want to purchase an Apple product.
- Luggage
- It’s taken me many years to find good luggage, but I’m happy to say I’ve found a few reliable pieces.
- I’ve packed a lot in this carry on and this checked luggage from DELSY.
- DELSY also has a lot of luggage sets, which is great if you want to get a sturdy set of luggage with ample organization and space.
- Packing Cubes
- If you overpack like me, packing cubes like these will save you from travel woes.
- This toiletry accessory kit will also not only save space in your bag, but will also save from any worries about leaks or airport security compliance.
- Water Bottle
- I recommend bringing a water bottle on any trip, as having your own will undoubtedly save you money and time. I use this copper water bottle, it is easy to hold and has antioxidant properties.
- Camera
- I currently use the Canon PowerShot IXUS and the Fujifilm X-T30 II to take my pictures. The Canon PowerShot is a beginner friendly digital camera, and the kit comes with everything you could possibly need (except a USB C SD Card Reader, if your laptop doesn’t have a standard USB port).
- Entertainment
- Lastly, you have to have a good playlist or two while traveling.
